40km Motorway Opens Today
Updated : Dec 8, 2008
A new 40km stretch of motorway will open today knocking up to 20 mins off the Dublin to Cork route.
The M8 section, which links Cullahill, Co. Laois and Cashel, Co. Tipperary, will have 46 bridges and four junctions.
The project, finished seven months ahead of schedule, will see up to 16,000 cars a day travel on it.
Also, in road news, Ireland's first service station on a motorway was opened yesterday on the M1 at junction five - the Balbriggan South exit - and expects to cater for 55,000 motorists a day.
Very Happy Pig may take a trip to Cork to try out the road and will definitely head towards Balbriggan to see the new service station!
