The much need blast of optimism came after American Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke said there were ‘tentative signs’ that the recession may be over.

Budding Irish filmmakers are competing for five thousand euro prize and raising awareness for Drink Aware at the same time.
The 10 college teams are part taking in a drinkaware.ie contest and have to make a short film about alcohol abuse.
The winner will be crowned and given the cheque in a ceremony next week.

Lecturer, Terry Eagleton was forced to retire from an English university because he was ‘too old’, but had the last laugh by landing, not one, but four new jobs.
Litterarry critic Eagleton had to leave the Manchester university post after reaching the mandatory retirement age, but has since taken up jobs in four different colleges.

A dog has been reunited with her owners after being found in rubble eight days after the Italian earthquake disaster that claimed 294 lives.
Firefighters heard the grey terrier named Pasquaina whimpering under tons of rubble and was rescued and reunited with her delighted owners.
