Skater Dad Rolls In The Cash
Updated : May 6, 2009
Big-hearted Dad, Alan Smyth became the first man to skateboard the length of Ireland rolling from Mizen Head to Malin Head in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation.
The keen skateboarder decided upon his mission due to a personal connection with the heart. He said: “My son was diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve prior to his birth, later scans showed that his aortic valve was actually virtually fully formed tricuspid and there was no regurgitation. He should lead a full and happy life, hopefully discovering skateboarding and all its joys along the way. He will, however, need check-ups every five years and, like all of us, needs to look after his heart.â€
The super Dad from Cambridge raised over €2,200 and complete the 400 mile journey in 14 days.
VeryHappyPig is in awe. VHP once tried to skateboard down a hill and ended up snot over tail on the ground.
