Bord Gais Thats Great-Energy Company Look For Unemployed To Star In New Advert

VeryHappyPig has learned Bord Gais is looking to do its bit for the unemployed, and no the energy company are not dropping their prices again. They are, however offering those out of a job the chance to star in a new €2m series of ads for The Big Switch, alongside Lucy Kennedy.
The energy provider is using website Twitter to recruit unemployed people to replace the usual models/extras who front its advertising campaign.
And, in just a few hours, bosses were inundated with hundreds of queries about how to get involved in the video shoot.
The 'refresh campaign', which is being co-ordinated by the gas company's agency RMG Target, aims to encourage a new flock of customers to switch from ESB to Bord Gais.
The Evening Herald revealed that Bord Gais had lined up professional actors for the shoot, but then decided to enlist unemployed people.
A spokesperson said: "We are looking for people to be as creative as possible, perhaps turn up in costume or even sing a song about the Big Switch.
"The thought is that given so many people are unemployed at the moment, we might be able to give something back to people, so we're opening the shoot to all available on that particular day and, even more importantly, we'll be able to pay for their time,"
The extras will be paid between €50 and €200 for their day, depending on how long they are in the studio for.
However, Bord Gais has been surprised by the huge reaction, with hundreds of people signing up.
