St Vincent's Hospital To Get Upgrade
Updated : Jun 8, 2009
Work on new cystic fibrosis facilities at St Vincent's University Hospital will progress this summer.
The new CEO of the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland (CFAI), Philip Watt, said that he anticipated that the new facilities would be on stream in 2010.
CFAI recently met Health Minister Mary Harney and Mr Watt said: "We were pleased that she is upgrading the facilities in Vincent's and this should make a significant difference to CF patients going forward.
"In the meantime, there are a range of interim measures that the CFAI are working on with the Department of Health."
The HSE said earlier this year that despite the current economic challenges, it was committed to delivering facilities for the treatment of CF patients as quickly as possible.
Eight single en suite rooms opened in St Vincent's Hospital for the dedicated treatment of people with CF last year.
