Not A Load Of Rubbish-Litter Free Areas Increase In Ireland
Updated : Jun 15, 2009
The number of litter-free areas around the country is at an all-time high, according to the latest survey by the Irish Business Against Litter organisation.
The group says that more than two-thirds of towns inspected as part of the survey were found to be free of litter.
Wexford is ranked as the cleanest town ahead of Ennis, while Athlone and Mallow were the only litter blackspots.
Arklow is also described as seriously littered.
IBAL says cities are not doing as well as towns and this is particularly concerning as the tourist season begins.
It also says many areas are likely to suffer this summer due to cutbacks in street cleaning by councils facing budget restraints.
VeryHappyPig is happy rolling around in muck and such but litter is even disgusting to a pig! So VHP thinks this is great news!
