101 Not Out

Updated : Jul 8, 2009

A Pembroke woman is still putting in an eight-hour day, six days a week - at the age of 101.

Connie Brown has clocked up 81 years at the fish and chip shop she opened with late husband Sidney in 1928, reports The Sun.

She skins, fillets and fries the fish and cleans up afterwards - and enjoys her job so much she has no plans to quit.

Mrs Brown, whose husband died in 1964, gets a hand running Browns in Pembroke, West Wales, from son Hilton, 73, and his wife Glenys, 68.

She said: "People say I should have 'Me Time'. But I know what's best and that's work. I love it. Why should I slacken just because I've gone past 100? It keeps me young."

Mrs Brown, 102 on August 6, charged one-and-a-half old pence for cod and chips when the shop opened. It's now £2.85.

VeryHappyPig is a third of Ms Pembroke’s age and wouldn’t be able to put in that amount of time in the VeryHappyPig Office!
