Radio Stations Get Funding
Updated : Aug 4, 2009
Funding of almost €960,000 was today awarded to 89 radio projects.
The grants were provided by the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland under the Sound and Vision scheme and are for programmes dealing with themes such as Irish, culture and heritage.
It will support productions in a wide range of areas such as documentaries, drama, children’s programming and entertainment.
The Sound and Vision scheme is a project designed to help fund new television and radio programmes.
Michael O’Keeffe, BCI chief executive, said: “The Sound and Vision Scheme continues to be a great success through the funding of high quality programmes.
“We are particularly pleased at the ongoing growth in the independent production sector, which has secured the highest funding contribution to date in this round.â€
The BCI said 14 of the 89 projects funded are for Irish and bi-lingual projects.
