49 Years, 6 Months And Six Days Protecting Ireland

Lt Commander Tom Costello was honoured with a special parade yesterday, after stepping down from his post in the Irish defence force, after a amazing record of 49 years, 6 months and six days served protecting the Irish.
His wife and family joined the Lt Commander in his final farewell at Haulbowline Navel Base, in Cork. After his final duty, he said he had a mixture of emotions ranging from sadness to happiness.
