2011 To Bring €30m To €100m Into Ireland For A Game Of Soccer!!

Updated : Jan 30, 2009

Lansdowne Road’s new €300million stadium was today named as the venue for the 2011 Europa League Final. It was announced on www.UEFA.com today and is a great boost for Irish Tourism and the economy as it will bring in approx €30m to €100m into our state.

Delighted with the successful bid, John Delaney, Chief Executive of the Football Association Ireland, said: "Europe's top clubs will play out the 40th final of the UEFA Cup in Dublin in 2011. This is a significant cup, for our new stadium and for Ireland. I would like to pay particular thanks to Dublin City Council and the Government for their help in mounting this winning bid, against stiff competition from all over Europe. The match will be watched live from all corners of the Globe and will have over 40 million viewers!"

This is another great boost for Ireland showing its commitment to sport, after Dublin was successfully granted “The European City for Sport in 2010".

VeryHappyPig thinks this is brilliant and just shows that Ireland really is the home of sport!
