The Irish Pig Is Allowed Back Into South Africa.
Updated : Feb 3, 2009
South Africa has lifted its trade restrictions on Irish Pork following the over-exposed dioxin scare in December. Agricultural Minister Brendan Smith said: "This will raise and restore the confidence of Irish Pork in the International markets."
Japan have also lifted their import ban after Irish Pork was taken off International shelves worldwide at the end of last year. This is a great boost to one of Ireland's biggest exports after taking a battering last year over an unnecessary scandal.
