‘Extinct’ Bird Is Extinct Now!
Updated : Mar 14, 2009
Amazed scientists watched footage of a Worcester’s Button-quail bird believed to have been extinct for decades - only to learn that it had been sold for 10 cent and eaten!
A TV crew had inadvertently filmed the bird while documenting methods of bird-trapping in the Luzon mountains of the Philippines and only realised the significance of the bird when an expert from the World Bird Club of the Philippines viewed the footage.
Unfortunately, the ornithologists were horrified to find out that the quail was sold at a market, shortly after filming, for the equivalent of 10c and eaten for supper!!.
