Germans Love TV Show About Irish Life

Updated : Mar 7, 2009

A spoof drama about rural Irish life is proving to be a big hit in Germany by becoming one of the country’s most popular TV shows. Our Farm In Ireland is watched by more than six million viewers every Sunday.

It’s the story of Martin Winter, a German doctor and widower who moves to the fictional town of Ballymara with his three daughters. There he eventually falls in love with local girl Erin O’Toole, described by producers as an “attractive shepherdess”.

The shows producers say Germans love it because “Ireland is close to nature”.

VeryHappyPig says I’m a pig, so I’m close to nature too!
