Limerick Woman Knocks U2 Off No.1 Spot

Updated : Mar 15, 2009

A song, recorded by Limerick woman Julie-Anne Dineen in aid of the Symptomatic Breast Cancer Care Unit in the Mid-West Regional Hospital, has zoomed to the No 1 slot after huge sales this week knocking U2 off the top spot.

"We were told that it was number one in the midweek charts and so far ahead of the next song that it is going to be number one for the weekend," confirmed Julie-Anne's husband David Dineen. "We are absolutely over the moon - I cannot believe it. I'm just so happy after all the hard work, for Julie- Anne - she is after knocking U2 off the top of the charts! It is amazing,"

Julie-Anne is a survivor of breast cancer. She recorded the song, Do You Believe which was written by Philip Scanlon, a day after finishing her second course of chemotherapy for breast cancer, in a bid to show other women there is life after battling the disease.

"It's mad, I can't believe it. I'm trying to pace myself because I am finishing my treatment tomorrow. We are all exhausted but it is brilliant," said a delighted Julie-Anne. She has been touring around to schools in the city and county to try and raise awareness about Breast Cancer, and has been delighted with the response to her single. "It is the awareness about Breast Cancer that we are creating, that is more important, I am thrilled to bits," added Julie-Anne.

VeryHappyPig says fair play to ya, Julie-Anne, you’re a fighter for sure!!
